It is a reaction in which ester is heated in presence of a base (mainly NaOH) to give out ethanol & ethanoic acid, this process is used in making of soap. NaOH(Sodium Hydroxide) example: CH3COOC2H5 ----------------> CH3COOH + C2H5OH Ethyl Ethanoate Ethanoic acid Ethanol

This is incorrect. In presence of NaOH its CHCOONa+C2H50H. Your reaction is reaction with H2SO4 where you get parent alcohol and acid instead of parent alcohol and sodium salt of the acid.
