Both terms relative poverty and absolute poverty are used to measure poverty. Absolute poverty is meansured in terms of financial means to obtain basic necessities in order to survive like food. It's not effected by the economic growth. For example households not able to buy food in order to survive are in absolute poverty. Whereas Relative poverty is measeured as name suggest in relative terms. It's relative to the economic climate. For example households earnning 60% less than the average household in the economy are in relative poverty. This measure changes with economic prosperity. read less
