People’s movement often describes many forms of collective action, like Narmada Bachao Andolan, Movement for Right to Information, Anti-liquor Movement in Andhra Pradesh by poor women, Environmental Movement, etc. Most of these movements are issue-specific movements.Examples of Long-term Movement Groups The Nepalese movement for democracy arose with the specific objective of reversing the kings, order, i.e. to restore democracy by replacing monarchical power. In April 2006, Girija Prasad Koirala became the Prime Minister of Nepal by suspending the power of the king. ”Narmada Bachao Andolan started to stop the - construction of Sirdar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river, but later it gradually, questioned all sueh big dams and the model of development that required such dams.The Environmental Movement and Women’s Movement are long-term movements and involve more than one issue and have taken different forms in different parts of country by different organisations. read less
