Usha Kalyanaraman

I teach both Veena and Vocal music and have been passionately dedicated to the field of classical music for over 20 years. My journey began with a deep love for Carnatic music, which eventually turned into a lifelong commitment to teaching and performing. My classes are a combination of traditional values, personalized instruction, and a focus on both theory and practical techniques.

I completed my B.Sc. from Tamil Nadu Technical University in 1995, and in the realm of music, I have completed both the Lower and Higher grade certifications. One of the most enriching experiences of my career was participating in the Annamacharya Project, where I had the opportunity to perform devotional compositions. This project took me to Tirupati and helped deepen my spiritual and musical connection to classical traditions.

Over the years, I have performed Veena and Vocal concerts in cities like Bangalore and Salem. These performances not only built my confidence as an artist but also broadened my understanding of stage presence, audience connection, and performance techniques. I regularly train students preparing for music grade exams and also guide those pursuing B.Sc. Music by supporting both their practical and theoretical studies.

I have been honored to participate in numerous temple concerts and music festivals. These events provided recognition and awards that reaffirmed my commitment to spreading Carnatic music. The certificates of appreciation I received over the years are cherished reminders of the joy I have shared with audiences and students alike.

My teaching approach is tailored to the student’s level and pace. I offer both online and offline sessions, depending on what suits the learner best. I work with students of all age groups, from children just starting out to adults looking to refine their skills. Whether it's mastering a raga on the Veena or developing the voice for classical bhajans, I ensure a patient and supportive environment.

I believe music is both a discipline and a joy. In my classes, I emphasize the importance of daily practice, listening, and correct technique while also keeping the sessions interactive and engaging. It brings me immense happiness to see my students perform confidently and stay connected to this rich musical tradition.
