How easy is it getting first job as data scientist?

Normally, Industry prefers people who has experience in DS. If you are planning to switch your career, then first move with in your organization as it will be easy to get in to DS field.

I would highly recommend Python to go for.

Are you a data scientist but your major was not CS? If yes, how did you make the transition? And how...

It doesn't matter whether you have CS or ECE background. Its all depend on how much insterest you show to learn the concepts. Two to three months should be the timeline to learn DS/ML.

Is it worth doing a data science course through Edwisor to get a job if I am from a non-technical background?

I would highly recommend you to go through Machine learning/Data Science courses in Udemy/Coursera/edx. These sites can be your starting point and if struck in understanding the concepts, you can approach people who are in this domain. Paying high for a DS course is useless when you have other options.... ...more

These sites can be your starting point and if struck in understanding the concepts, you can approach people who are in this domain. Paying high for a DS course is useless when you have other options. Non technical background is not an hindrance. Its just depends on our interest and learning capability.
