लेखक के कहने का आशय है की जापानी विधि से चाय बनाने वाला व्यक्ति प्रत्येक कार्य अत्यंत गरिमापूर्ण ढंग से कर रहा था। उसकी क्रियाओं को देखकर ऐसा अनुभव हो रहा था मानो जयजयवंती नामक मधुर राग बज रहा हो। उनकी इन क्रियाओं को देख कर एक मधुरता और अपनेपन का एहसास होता था। चाय बनाने वाले व्यक्ति के समक्ष क्रियाओं एकदम गरिमापूर्ण एवं अनूठी थी जो मन को शांति प्रदान करती थी।

लेखक के मित्र ने बताया कि जापान में मानसिक रोगियों की संख्या लगातार बढ़ रही है। इसका कारण जापानी लोगों के जीवन का तेज गति से चलना है । वह लोग दौड़ रहे हैं उनका दिमाग हमेशा कार्यशील रहता है। उसने यह भी बताया कि जापानी अमेरिका से आगे बढ़ने की होड़ में लगे हैं। वह 1 महीने का काम 1 दिन में करने का कोशिश करते हैं। उनका दिमाग लगातार कुछ नया करने के लिए सोचता रहता है । इससे धीरे धीरे उनके दिमाग पर तनाव बढ़ रहा है और वह मानसिक रोग के शिकार हो रहे हैं। मेरे विचार से जीवन में संघर्ष करना और आगे बढ़ना अच्छी बात है किंतु अपने आप को केवल दूसरों से आगे बढ़ने के लिए हमेशा काम में उलझाए रखना उचित नहीं है । काम के साथ-साथ स्वास्थ्य का ध्यान रखना भी जरूरी है।
