Carnatic Music Classes

" I have been training live one on one veena class by guru Lakshmi mam. She is a such a dedicated and calm teacher. The songs she picks will be the master songs sung by the legends. With her great support and training I have done a veena program in temple with her presence and her brother as mirudhangam support. We chose total 5 songs. Mohana varnam, pahe pahe bala ganapathy in hamsadhvani ragam, annamachari - chakkani thallike sangubala in padi ragam, hindustani gazhal dumuka dumuka Nagar, lingastagam and ganesha pancharatham in five ragas. She trained me in such a way to present as a concert level. Received great applauds from audience. Few public had given specific feedback for lingastagam in shivaranjani raga, ganesha pancharatham and gazhal that it sounded great in veena. She has put in lot of efforts equally in training me these songs to present well. I could see a great improvements in myself and the on the quality of the training is simply amazing. It gives me more confidence that I should learn more songs in different rages. Next I am in the process of training for my arangetram on saveri varna which gives me a great standard on fingering as its has more ganapathi. Alaipayuthe kanna, ragi tandira a purandarasar song in ahibhairav raga. Maithreem bhajatha world piece song sung by MS. Getting a good guru is not easy. I think I am blessed to have such an amazing guru in my live who is also a very good human being. "

"I live in San Francisco & I have been taking classes with Lakshmi Maami for 7 months now via Skype. I started anew after a 12 year hiatus. Lakshmi Maami is super dedicated, extremely punctual and a stickler for perfection. She paces her classes very well but waits until you play a lesson without a flaw before she moves on to the next. She teaches with the vision of making you play on stage. I am currently learning Alankaram. I record every class and just within a few months, I can feel a huge improvement in my fingering, speed and Tala pramanam. I still have a long way to go, but I am sure under Lakshmi Maami's tutelage and guidance, I would be able to play to her satisfaction. If you are in two minds about taking classes on Skype, you don't have to be worried. Her internet connection is very good and your mistakes don't escape her. I am grateful to have her as my Guru and hopefully, one day, I'll do her proud. "
