Bharatanatyam Dance Classes
Teaching Experience in detail in Dance classes
I have been devoted to Bharatanatyam for over 23 years, both as a passionate performer and as a dedicated teacher. My journey began with traditional training under experienced gurus, and over the years I have performed in more than 400 stage shows in India and abroad. While performance gave me immense joy, teaching became my true calling, as I realized the fulfillment that comes from passing on this timeless art form to the next generation. I have been teaching Bharatanatyam to students across different age groups – children as young as 5, teenagers seeking structured training, and adults who either wish to begin or reconnect with classical dance. My teaching style focuses on building a strong foundation in the basic adavus, posture, rhythm, and hand gestures (mudras), gradually moving towards abhinaya (expressions), nritta (pure dance), and performance-oriented pieces. Alongside practical training, I emphasize the cultural and spiritual depth of Bharatanatyam by introducing students to its theory, stories from mythology, and the traditional margam structure. My classes follow a systematic approach, ensuring that every learner progresses step by step with clarity and confidence. I believe in balancing discipline with joy, so students not only master technique but also develop a love for the art form. Over the years, many of my students have successfully performed on stage, gained appreciation in school and cultural programs, and built self-confidence, focus, and grace through dance. I conduct my classes under the name Rasa Arpita, offering weekend batches with eight classes per month. Each batch is designed to give personalized attention while maintaining group learning energy. For dedicated learners, I also provide performance training, exam preparation guidance, and mentoring for competitions. Dance to me is not just movement, but a way of life that nurtures body, mind, and soul. As a teacher, my goal is to ensure every student experiences this joy, builds discipline, and carries forward the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam with pride.
