Dulanthi Chethana

I obtained my Bachelor's degree from Kalikaveri Colledge of Fine Arts and my master's from Annamalai University. In college, I was lucky to gain valuable resources who helped me with their useful tips. I am grateful to them as they have made me who I am today. Now, after 19 years of working as a choreographer and a dance tutor, I can proudly say that we have successfully trained several students who have also achieved big goals in their life.
As far as my training approach goes, I always make sure that my students do get aligned with the steps first. However, the training process depends solely on the capacity of the student. If they can try out challenging and complex dance forms, I help them with that. If not, then I start with the simple steps. My focus point is whatever they learn, easy or complex steps, they must learn adequately and enjoy the learning process. While providing the lessons, I try to portray an in-depth approach where I would give a rundown of the lesson to be taught before starting.

As I pursue my PhD in Bharatanatyam, I learn many new aspects through research. Now, I plan to teach Bharatanatyam along with yoga, as both have an integral connection that hugely contributes to shaping our lives. Being a choreographer and dancer, I have understood that physical activity is essential to stay fit, and if that comes along with genuine enjoyment, why not try that out?
