Pankaj Harkal

I am an organic chemist with strong academic training and hands-on research experience in synthetic and process chemistry, currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology (Process Chemistry) at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), one of India’s premier institutes. My academic journey has given me a deep and structured understanding of organic chemistry, particularly reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, functional group transformations, and structure–reactivity relationships. I have worked extensively on the synthesis of biologically active molecules, including hydantoins, benzimidazolones, and other drug-like scaffolds, with a strong emphasis on reaction optimization, scalability, and process development. My research experience includes designing synthetic routes, troubleshooting reactions, understanding mechanistic pathways, and interpreting spectral data using NMR, IR, LC–MS, and HPLC. Alongside research, I have actively mentored postgraduate students, helping them build conceptual clarity in organic chemistry and guiding them through experimental planning and problem-solving. I possess a strong ability to simplify complex chemical concepts and explain them logically, making them accessible to students at the higher secondary and undergraduate levels. My approach to teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding over rote learning, enabling students to develop strong fundamentals required for board examinations, competitive exams, and higher studies. I combine theoretical clarity with practical insight, helping students connect textbook chemistry with real-world chemical applications. With a disciplined academic background, strong communication skills, and a passion for teaching, I aim to contribute effectively as an online chemistry educator, helping students gain confidence, conceptual clarity, and a genuine interest in organic chemistry.
