In my Ph.D. course, my area of focus was studying pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis with project entitled �¢??Modulation of Extracellular Matrix Components Relevant to Rheumatoid Arthritis�¢??. During the course of pathology, the components of extra cellular matrix (ECM) like collagen, fibronectin, osteopontin (OPN), tenascin-C (TN-C) and matrix metalloproteases (MMPs) like MMP-2 and MMP-9 are over expressed and contributes to pathology of RA. We successfully targeted ECM proteins like OPN, TN-C and MMPs by generating fully human monoclonal antibodies using phage display technology and shortlisted clones generated against OPN and TN-C were validated in collagen antibody induced arthritis model of RA.
During my Ph.D., I also worked on tumor biology project entitled �¢??Correlation of full length variants and truncated fragments of osteopontin and tenascin c with histopathological characteristics of breast cancer�¢?? Earlier, I worked on pathogenesis of malaria, as a Junior Research Fellow in project entitled �¢??Identification and validation of new drug targets for selected pathogens,�¢?? at Institute of Microbial Technology (C.S.I.R.), Chandigarh, India for two years ((February 2009 �¢?? March 2011). Further, I got opportunity to gain industrial research experience at ThermoFisher in Bangalore with a project associated with generation of rabbit monoclonal antibodies using recombinant molecular technologies. (October 2017-March 2018)
My seven years of research experience in biological science with various areas of focus like Immunology, Cell biology, protein re-engineering and Biochemistry, Molecular biology and Microbiology motivates me to pursue career in the field of biological sciences associated with human healthcare.
