Why is Linux necessary to learn with CCNA/CCNP, and what are some good videos or materials to learn it (Linux) by myself?

I am both RHCE and CCNP certified, from my experience Linux is not at all necessary to learn CCNA/CCNP. These two are completely independent technologies. I have many friends who are CCNP certified but know nothing abt linux. if u r used to linux cli mode configurations it becomes easier for you to learn cisco IOS CLI mode (just a mindset). Windows users find it difficult to work with IOS CLI mode as they are used to GUI. Apart from this, learning linux networking will give u brief idea about protocols like FTP, HTTP,SMB,NFS as learning linux involves configuring these networking services. So knowing linux gives an advantage but its not at all necessary for CCNA/CCNP. read less
