Saptha swaras in Carnatic music.

Dear students, 

We have a very rich musical culture to go through and we will start our music studies with the basic lesson of south Indian classical music ie Carnatic music which is saptha swaras. Saptha means 7, swaras means notes. 

We may sing the saptha swaras which are..

Arohana -        Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni 

Avarohana- .   Sa Ni Dha Pa Ma Ga Ri 

We have a very wide Raga collection in our music, that's one of the reasons why we call our music Raga Sangeetham as well. 

We will start singing saptha swaras in a particular raga called, Maya Malava Goula which is easy to understand especially for a beginner. The swara positions in this raga are as follows.

Shadja, Suddha rishabha, Antara gandhara, Suddha Madhyama, Panchama, Suddha dhaivata and Kakali Nishada.
