How much time is required for learning about Indian Raagas in terms of Vocal. That is looking for basics of indian music & then to learn over a extended period in short spells of say THREE months & again three months.... like that. Best books to start with for a person in Age group of 25 years. (female)

The basic parental 72 raagas will take an year of time. There are many other derived raagas also which will definitely take more years to learn and improvise. The parental raagas are very important. If one expertise in the basic parental raagas, then the other derived Rashad can easily be learn.
