%d is not the only format specifier in C to represent integers. To be precise, %d is used to represent a signed decimal integer. Other integer types such as unsigned int, long int, etc. have their own format specifiers. %ld: Long int

%d, is used to put the number. Example - printf("my age is %d",17) Num. Means integer.
