function template starts with the keyword template followed by template parameter(s) inside <> which is followed by the function definition. In the above code, T is a template argument that accepts different data types ( int , float , etc.), and typename is a keyword.

Templates have two main uses: one, for creating functions and classes that are parameter by types. This is what you normaly see: auto x=std::vector<int>{5};//vector is a class template. auto y=std::list<int>;//list is a class template.
