About C++ Programming Language

Introduction

C++ is an excellent programming language and many of the applications are written in C++ language. It has generic, object-oriented & imperative programming features, and also provides facilities for low-level memory manipulation. Successor of C language, it is an OOP (object oriented programming) language developed by Bjarne Stroustrup at Bell Labs. C++ is an efficient flexible language like C that provides high-level features for program organization. Since it is an extension of C language, it is possible to code in ‘C style’ or ‘object oriented style’. C++ can be coded in either way so it is an example of effective hybrid language.

C++ is a middle-level programming language which adds object-oriented features to C (predecessor of C++). It is one of the most popular programming languages which runs on a variety of platforms – Mac OS, different versions of UNIX and Windows. It was renamed in the year 1983 after C’s increment operator. A number of programming languages have been influenced by C++ such as newer versions of C after 1998, C# and Java. With the introduction and increasing popularity of Java, C++ is losing some of its ground to Java. However, it is still one of the top programming languages used for creating, tracking and assessing all kinds of software.
