if you want to sort it only based on first column, simply it's like sorting one dimensional array. only the difference is while exchanging the elements entire row must be considered as an element.

If you want to perform sorting only based on first characters of strings, then simply write code like sorting one dimensional array. but while exchanging elements you should exchange the entire row of elements. the code would be simple if you apply pointers concept in it.
