I have more than 7 years experience of working with public health data, bio-statistics, epidemiological analysis. Currently working as a Sr. Epidemiologist in Hyderabad. With 7+ years of exp. I would say "YES" u can apply for a mid level position. You focus little bit on learning some analytical tools like R, SAS, SPSS at least in some functional level and also get some training in regression and classification models in any of the analytical tool's environment.
