Not sure your familiarity with hadoop ecosystem in order to do either of these- Spark or Flink. Also start with batch (and micro batch) vs stream processing and throughput latency comparisons and eventually you yourself will realize which one is better based on the need.

It certainly give you benefit. But path is long & not so easy. It dons't mean too long or tough. Take around 6 months of exhaustive learning. You also need to learn some related applications/system for execution.
