Ask a Question
Ion means any element or compound, which loses or gains an electron.
It has two types- cation, anion.
Cation means ion with a positive charge. When a compound or an element loses an electron, it becomes a cation.
Eg- Na+, Ca2+, K+,etc.
Anion means ion with a negative charge. So anion is formed when a compound or an element accepts an electron.
E.g., Cl-, Br-, O--, etc.
