Sowmyashree Mayur Kaku

Music has always been art of my journey even if I am a doctor by profession. I started training in Carnatic music at the age of 4. I trained under the guidance of Vidushi Dr Paniveni Udayashankar - a renowned radio artist and teacher, for 10 years during which I successfully completed my junior and senior level certificate exams conducted by the Government of Karnataka. I then trained under Guru Vidushi Vasanta Srinivasan, a renowned senior artist who has won accolades and performed with MS Subbalakshmi as well, for around 10 years. She taught me many rare compositions and helped me challenge my abilities as a singer. I have also learnt the 72 melakarta composition from her.
I have been teaching music to students of all ages, abilities and interests. I can teach theory of music and practical applications. I also teach shlokas and mantras including lalita sahasranamam, vishnu sahasranamam, bhagavadgita etc. I wish to be able to deliver the science and knowledge of music to students for them to mold and grow as artists.
