"We are a USA-based family who wanted our daughter to train for a few weeks with a tennis academy while on holiday in India in July 2025. We contacted the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA), and after reviewing her playing videos, they accepted her into their “Junior Pro” program. When I mentioned that she was a UTR 4.0, they claimed ignorance of that rating system. From the first day of practice, there was a complete lack of communication about rules regarding practice sessions, which resulted in my daughter missing a session because she didn’t show up 15 minutes early for warm-ups. We were also not given clear information about the fitness sessions’ time and location, which caused another missed appointment. Then, after a week, we were abruptly told that my daughter would only be able to continue if she moved to a lower-skilled group. This was communicated to us with no explanation and by an office employee - not a coach. Clearly, letting her continue for just a few more weeks in her group was not even an option. Given this unprofessional and discourteous conduct, and the abovementioned incompetence of the management, we decided to move on. The tennis coaching here is nowhere near international standards. Some of the kids in their “Junior Pro” program, which is meant for players who compete regularly on the circuit, cannot do an overhead serve. The fitness sessions are lackluster and the kids seem to be merely going through the motions. There are few, if any, footwork drills. To my knowledge, none of their students seem to have participated in any major international tournaments, and neither have any been admitted to any of the top college tennis programs in the United States or elsewhere. While the facilities at the center are impressive, these are owned and run by the Padukone-Dravid Sports Center and the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy has nothing to do with them. All in all, this academy may be a barely acceptable option for those families who do not need to have their child attend a professional, international-level tennis academy, but others should be prepared to be sorely disappointed. Caveat Emptor. "
