I have been teaching Bharatanatyam for the past 7 years, and my journey with this classical dance form has been one of constant growth, learning, and deepening passion. Holding both a Diploma and a Master’s degree in Dance, I have been fortunate to be trained in a strong academic and practical foundation. This has helped me shape my teaching methods in a way that is both structured and rooted in tradition.

Over the years, I have worked with a wide range of students—children, teenagers, and adults—through schools, NGOs, and private sessions. Each interaction has enriched my experience as a teacher and deepened my appreciation for how Bharatanatyam touches people differently. I firmly believe that classical dance is not just a performance art—it’s a discipline that cultivates patience, grace, strength, and self-awareness in students.

I’ve received overwhelming positive feedback from students and their families, which has encouraged me to continue growing as a mentor and performer. My teaching approach is a combination of classical rigour and individual attention. I aim to keep my classes engaging while upholding the precision and beauty that Bharatanatyam demands. Many of my students come to class not just for learning the art form, but also for the joy, confidence, and clarity it brings to their lives.

Performance has always been a central part of my journey. As a South Bangalorian, one of my proudest moments was performing every day during the Bengaluru Ganesha Utsava last year. It was an honour to be a part of such a culturally vibrant event. I have also had the privilege to perform for various government-sponsored programs and G20 cultural showcases, allowing me to bring Bharatanatyam to more diverse and global audiences.

My stage experience includes both solo performances and group ensemble work. This balance has given me a strong understanding of presentation, group coordination, and choreography. Whether I’m choreographing a performance for a school function or curating a piece for an advanced-level group, I strive to bring creativity and clarity to every presentation.

I conduct both online and offline classes depending on the student’s convenience and location. Each class is designed with a balance of theoretical understanding, adavu practice, abhinaya, and repertoire training. I also guide students who wish to appear for certification exams in Bharatanatyam, helping them prepare thoroughly for practical as well as theoretical components.

I believe every student has their own unique rhythm and learning pace, and as a teacher, my role is to nurture that with care and consistency. My ultimate goal is to instill in them not only the skills of Bharatanatyam but also a lasting love and respect for the classical arts.
