I find myself greatly motivated by teaching. Students have a great ability of imbibe knowledge when provided to them in a coherent, straight forward way, and they also maintain the openness to be able to question what is set and try to address gaping holes in our knowledge by their own curiosity and will. I am still a learner and my experience with students is always fulfilling. Teaching is like reconnecting to the schoolgirl in me. However, the curriculum that I was taught was mostly overwhelming and alienating. I hope that with the knowledge and training in sciences that I have today, combined with the connection and empathy I feel, I can make a difference in the way young students are taught.

I am a scientist by profession and have spent the last 10 years of my life in the pursuit of that goal. I find myself greatly motivated by the quest of knowledge and the ability to answer novel questions in the field of biology. Teaching has been a large part of my professional curriculum and I have spent a large portion of my career teaching or assisting my teachers in their courses. I find myself greatly motivated by teaching.
