Generally, a neutral atom contains equal no of protons
and electrons. If the atom loses or gains an electron, that new atom called as ions. Usually, ions two types one is cation another one is Anion.
If atom loss one electron, atom acquires excess proton so that atom is called a cation.
If atom gain one electron, atom acquires excess electron so that atom is called Anion.
