Chhanda B. - Experienced Biology Teacher for CBSE, ICSE, Classes 8-10 from Bengaluru

I am a Biology teacher with around 10 years of teaching experience, specialising in Classes 9 and 10. I have taught Biology in reputed ICSE and CBSE schools in Bengaluru, where I have worked extensively with school students and helped them develop strong conceptual understanding. My focus is on making Biology clear, interesting, and easier to understand while helping students improve their academic performance.

I have completed my M.Sc. in Biotechnology, which has given me a strong academic foundation in Biology and related areas. My postgraduate knowledge, combined with a decade of classroom teaching experience, has helped me develop a deeper understanding of both the subject and the different ways in which students learn. I use this experience to explain concepts in a structured and student-friendly manner.

Over the years, I have taught Biology to students from different learning levels and have focused on strengthening their fundamentals. I understand that Biology includes a wide range of concepts, terminology, processes, and diagrams, and students can sometimes find it difficult to connect these elements. I therefore focus on breaking topics down into understandable sections and helping students build their knowledge progressively.

My teaching methodology is flexible and student-centric. I begin by understanding the topic being covered and the individual student's learning requirements, and then structure the lesson accordingly. I use lesson plans, interactive discussions, visual aids, and practical examples to make concepts more engaging. I also encourage students to ask questions and participate actively so that I can identify areas where they may need additional support.

Regular assessment is another important part of my teaching approach. I use assessments to understand how well students have grasped the concepts and to identify topics that require further revision. I believe assessment should not only measure performance but also help students understand their areas of improvement and become more confident in their preparation.

My professional experience has also provided opportunities to participate in paper correction and attend CBSE workshops to enhance my teaching skills and subject knowledge. During my B.Ed., I participated in the "Gyana Deepa" programme conducted by the Infosys Foundation. These experiences have contributed to my continuous development as an educator and helped me stay attentive to effective teaching practices.

I conduct classes both online and offline and use PPT presentations, videos, and a whiteboard to support my lessons. My goal is to help students develop strong Biology fundamentals, understand concepts rather than simply memorise them, and approach their academic examinations with greater confidence. I aim to make every session clear, interactive, and aligned with the student's individual learning needs.
