Avinash Narayanaswamy

I am a double post graduate in the field of "Sustainable Energy Technology" and "Environmental and Energy Management" completed under scholarship from the University of Twente, the Netherlands.

Having been exposed to top quality education in that country for a period of close to 3 years as well as being part of an international eco friendly project in Europe, I always wanted to be part of knowledge sharing and knowledge building. Well there is no better platform than the teaching profession itself where in one can express himself/herself. I do the same at my place of work i.e Jain University, where I am employed as a Faculty and Researcher in the field of Bioenergy. The work entails me to have a good base in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

Apart from all this, I have traveled 27 countries (across Asia and Europe) to date due to my passion for Geography and History. In a nutshell, I do feel that I can give my best to students so that they can aspire to become achievers in their respective domains.

My accomplishments include:
a) A cross country clean energy project completed in 2010 across mainland Europe covering slightly over 6500 km through 10 countries completely on 100% self made biodiesel.
b) Similar biodiesel projects were also executed in south India in 2011 and 2014.
c) Developed a reactor at home and started to make my own biodiesel and partly blend it with petroleum diesel (40:60 proportion respectively) in my car. So far, I have covered close to 18,500 kms on my car with this fuel blend and possibly saved a few tonnes of carbon emissions. Messages are stickered on my car to highlight the importance of clean alternative transportation fuels to the general public.
d) Participation as an active speaker at clean energy seminars and events across the state of Karnataka organized by the Karnataka State Biofuel Development Board. Also giving presentations on alternative eco friendly fuels at state and national level seminar presentations.
e) Giving presentations to schools and colleges bordering wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in southern Karnataka to bring about awareness on forest fires and the ecosystem services the forests provide.
f) Installation of a rainwater harvesting setup to save not only on water but also on the energy that is spent in pumping water from Bangalore city's main water source located over 100 km away.
g) Composting all organic waste from the kitchen and using it as a natural fertilizer for the plants that grow in the garden.
