AutoCAD is mainly used for drafting and now a days all companies are preferring 3D software such as Catia. So if are planning to learn and want to choose between these two, then go for Catia. MEP Companies, Mechanical Companies or Consultancies who are providing services such as pdf to CAD conversion, paper to CAD, drafting, etc may ask you AutoCAD but all core companies will asking for 3d tool. It can be Catia or Creo or NX depending on them. Even in Core companies, AutoCAD is only used in production line , assembly line and even QC team will also use it. Because they need to read the drawing. . For that purpose companies will go for AutoCAD as its price is less compared to 3D Tools. You should be skilled in AutoCAD but give first preference to any 3D tool read less
