How much AutoCAD do interior designers need to know?

Being an interior designer, I would suggest all of it. Autocad shortcuts makes it easy to make the drawing and gets the process all easy. So learn it all and complete your drawings fast. You can always limit it up till 2d drawing and make 3d in SketchUp. It is way more easier and faster.
