Well its a bit technical if you talk about the real difference. For 2D the animation is mostly manual like we can use a lightbox and pencil but 3D cant be done without a computer. 2D is frame by frame and 3D can be done pose to pose also. Although 3D is nothing but a developed from of 2D or lets say traditional classical animation. There are many more differences as which cant be discussed in this small box but briefly its totally on the technological side like analog vs digital kind of a thing. read less

In contrast, 3D animations add depth so squares in 2D become cubes in 3D. The 3D animations also move in three directions, vertically (y axis), horizontally (x axis) and forward (closer to you) or backward (farther away from you), which is the z axis. read less
