1. Speed: Angular 2 was massive improvement as compared to Angular 1 . Both frameworks are quite fast as per benchmarks. 2. Embracing the platform: Angular does a better job of supporting upcoming platform features like Web Components(Custom elements, Shadow DOM), Web animations etc. 3. Productivity: Angular 2 uses TypeScript(although you can use ES5/ES6) which helps to catch bugs early and it is suitable if you are working in large teams. Most React projects use ES6, but you can use static typing using TypeScript or Flow. So it is a tie here. 4. JavaScript Fatigue: Both Angular and React can be pretty difficult to setup initially. You may have hard time finding which dependency suits your requirement. But thankfully there are official cli projects for both. I find Angular cli to be more complete solution while create-react-app seems to be doing minimal things and you have to choose your own router/state library etc. 5. State management: React(with Redux) uses single app state but Angular mostly have component based state. Here it is about preference which style you like better. 6. Templates: In Angular templates are written in different file(normally html) than JS. While in react you will write JSX in logic file only. 7. Job Market: Angular 1 is still big in market. Most Enterprise users are migrating to angular 2/4, while startups are going with react. So if you know either one you wont have difficulty getting a (good paying) Job. read less

Angular and React are great for writing SPAs. But they are completely different frameworks. Some programmers may say that React is better than Angular or vice versa. What's really best for a given project, however, depends on how you use these frameworks.
