One horse of a horse race club died. Insurance company has offered to settle the claim at 60% will it be recorded in the Accounts of the club and how?

Say value of the horse which died was Rs. 100000/- so insurance company would have made payment of Rs. 60000/- for which the accounting entries would be as follows: Dr. Insurer (Debtor) - 60000/- Dr. Loss - 40000/- Cr. Asset - 100000/-

The two methods for calculating cash flow from operating activities are as follows:

1) Direct Method: This method considers all major heads of cash payment and receipts for arriving at net cash position from operating, investing and financing activities.

2) Indirect Method: This method considers the net income as reporteed in the income statement of the company as base and makes adjustments for cash and non-cash items to arrive at cash position.

A business has current Ratio of 4:1 & a Quick Ratio of 1.2:1. If working capital is Rs. 180000. Calculate total current Assets and Stock.

Current ratio= Current assets / current lia. = 4:1 So, CA= 4CL ... (1) Quick Ratio = Cash / current lia. = 1.2:1 So, Cash = 1.2CL... (2) and Net working capital = Current Assets - Current Liabity=180000...(3) From (1) CA= 4 CL = Cash + 2.8CL So, CA-2.8CL = Cash So, from (3) 180000-CL-2.8CL = Cash So,... ...more

Current ratio= Current assets / current lia. = 4:1 So, CA= 4CL ... (1)

Quick Ratio = Cash / current lia. = 1.2:1 So, Cash = 1.2CL... (2)

and Net working capital = Current Assets - Current Liabity=180000...(3)

From (1) CA= 4 CL = Cash + 2.8CL

So, CA-2.8CL = Cash

So, from (3) 180000-CL-2.8CL = Cash

So, 180000-3.8CL = Cash

So, from (2) 180000-3.8CL = 1.2CL

So, 180000=5CL

So CL= 36000

So Cash = 1.2CL = 43200

So, CA = 180000-36000=144000

So, Stock = Total CA-Cash = 144000-43200=100800

Assuming that the Debt Equity Ratio is 2:1. State giving reason, whether the ratio will improve decline or will have no change in case bonus shares allotted to equity shareholders by Capitalizing profits.

It will decrease the D/E ratio as issuance of bonus shares will not affect debt position but it will increase the volume of equity.
