Why are the Photoshop lighting effects greyed on my Photoshop CC and the file is already in 8-bit RGB?

use color range tool..Top View..Select>Color Range>Pic Your Color then ok after color selection and Delete

Which tool you would prefer to use when you want to crop a human portrait from an image?
I would use a pen tool to exactly cut the human from the image avoiding the things in the background. If the background doesn't matter, we can straight away use crop tool.
