Removing blemishes and imperfections from a photo in Adobe Photoshop is a common task in photo retouching. Here's a step-by-step guide using some of the retouching tools available: Basic Method using the Spot Healing Brush: Open Your Image: Open the image you want to retouch in Adobe Photoshop. Select the Spot Healing Brush: In the toolbar, select the Spot Healing Brush tool. It looks like a band-aid. Adjust Brush Size: Adjust the brush size to match the size of the blemish you want to remove. You can do this using the bracket keys [ and ] or by right-clicking and adjusting the brush size from the context menu. Heal the Blemishes: Click on the blemish or imperfection you want to remove. The Spot Healing Brush will automatically sample nearby pixels and blend them to cover the blemish. Advanced Method using the Healing Brush Tool: Select the Healing Brush Tool: In the toolbar, select the Healing Brush tool. It looks like a band-aid with a little brush icon. Set the Sample Source: Hold down the Alt key (Option key on Mac) and click on a clean area near the blemish to set the sample source. Paint Over the Blemish: Release the Alt key and paint over the blemish. The Healing Brush will use the sampled pixels to blend and cover the imperfection. Additional Tips: Use a Soft Brush: When using these tools, it's often beneficial to use a soft-edged brush for a smoother blending effect. Adjust Opacity: You can lower the opacity of the Healing Brush or Spot Healing Brush to make the retouching more subtle. Adjust the opacity in the options bar at the top of the screen. Work on a New Layer: Create a new layer for your retouching work. This allows you to make non-destructive edits, and you can adjust the opacity of the layer if needed. Zoom In for Detail: Zoom in on the image to work on details more precisely, especially when dealing with smaller imperfections. Use the Clone Stamp Tool (Optional): The Clone Stamp tool can also be used for more manual control. It copies pixels from one area and applies them to another. However, it requires more manual adjustment compared to the healing tools. After retouching, zoom out and evaluate the overall look of the image to ensure that the retouching appears natural and doesn't create any noticeable artifacts. Save your work as you progress to preserve different stages of your retouching process. read less
