If you want to use for professional work and want to access it on internet then you should register your domain in the provided sites like go daddy and all. For Personal \ Testing \ Intranet Use you can also deploy your site to your localhost on your own system.

Yes you can host free as well as paid. But again Its depend upon what kind of website you have like is it related with eCommerce, education, company info .. According to you can ask for hosting provider. will suggest you for GoDaddy option.
