The Trinity of Carnatic Music The music's structure and philosophy were shaped by three great Tamil saint-composers: Saint Thyagaraja, Saint Muthuswami Dikshitar, and Saint Shyama Shastri. Purandaradasa The advent of Purandaradasa in 1484 was a landmark in the development of Carnatic music. His systematization and refinement of the art has remained the same to this day.
