Mussorgsky's Night On A Bald Mountain A piece that was originally written with vocals, but was later modified to feature a solo violin. A Perfect Circle, "Thinking Of You" A song with a combination of heavy distorted tones and more ambient and suspenseful tones. Pink Floyd, “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” A song from 1969 that some say is terrifying and full of ominous sound. Psycho: Bernard Herrmann The score for Hitchcock's 1960 horror film Psycho is considered to have set the tone for horror scoring, with its iconic violin stabs. Minor keys and tritone chords can also make music sound unsettling. Minor keys can make people feel sad or concerned, and the tritone was considered so disconcerting that medieval theorists called it the devil in music. read less
