Hi Granth, Stage directions are given from the perspective of the actors/performers. For example, stage right refers to the right side of the performer, while stage left refers to the left side of the performer. When the director is instructing the performers, they will give directions from the perspective of the performer. This means that even if it is stage left from the director's point of view, they will still say stage right if that is the direction the performer should take (since the director may be off stage). Centre stage refers to the middle of the stage, downstage indicates moving closer to the audience, and upstage indicates moving further away from the audience. read less
