Nishtala V.

Dr. Nishtala Krishna Veni is a Carnatic Veena Artiste. She hails from a family of abiding interest in Music. Her mother is Smt. D.V.Subba Lakshmi ( BA, & Diploma in Music ). Her father Dr.D.Siva Prasad is a Retd. Sanskrit Professor in Andhra University , Visakhapatnam . She started learning Music from the childhood at her Guru,Smt. Mallapragada Jogulamba (Retd. Staff Artiste, A.I.R, Visakhapatnam and prominent disciple of Sri. Vasa Krishna Murthy ) and honed her skills under her tutelage Known for her effortless ease and enviable grip over the instrument, Dr. Krishnaveni Nishtala, is an â??Aâ?? Grade Veena Artiste for more than 12 years in All India Radio and a highly accomplished Vainika who has performed in reputed sabhas all over India and USA.

Dr. Krishnaveni, obtained her Ph.D on Ragatalachintamani of Poluri Govinda Kavi under the guidance of Dr.N. Ramanathan (Retd. Prof. Dept. of Music, University of Madras.) Her thesis work â?? RAGATALACHINTAMANI â??of POLURI GOVINDA KAVI (Critical edition with translation and comments) was published.

She has acquired the knowledge of Talaprastara and other important musical aspects from Sri Akella Mallikarjuna Sarma.( Retd. Principal, Govt. Music college, Hyderabad.)

Dr. Krishnaveni also holds a post-graduate degree in Sanskrit and Alankar in Veena from Gandharva Maha Vidya Mandal. She has been working as faculty in the Dept. of Music, Bharatiya Vidya Kendra.

Her husband is Sri.N. Ravi Kumar, working in East Coast Railway.
