Mridangam is a percussive instrument(related to Laya). It is made of wood and animal skin after their death. It also contains layers of melted black material which is extracted from a stone and it is named ‘karina’. According to Vedas, it is said that Lord Ganesha , Lord shiva and Lord Vishnu had played Mridangam. All the Gods and Goddesses reside inside the Mridangam. Playing Mridangam will also activates your nervous system from hands to brain and also helps in stabilizing body functions.
