Introduction: As an experienced violin tutor registered on UrbanPro.com, I understand the significance of proper finger placements in violin training. Achieving the right finger positions is crucial for producing clear and accurate notes. Let's explore the essential guidelines for proper finger placements when playing the violin. Proper Finger Placements on the Violin: A Comprehensive Guide Understanding Finger Numbers: First Finger: Index finger (1st finger). Second Finger: Middle finger (2nd finger). Third Finger: Ring finger (3rd finger). Fourth Finger: Pinky finger (4th finger). Positioning the Left Hand: Curved and Relaxed: Keep your left hand fingers curved and relaxed to ensure flexibility and agility. Natural Arch: Maintain a natural arch in your fingers to facilitate proper reach and contact with the strings. First Finger (Index Finger): Placement: The first finger typically covers the first tape or marker on the fingerboard. Alignment: Ensure that the first finger is parallel to the fingerboard and not angled. Second Finger (Middle Finger): Half-Step Interval: Place the second finger close to the first, maintaining a half-step interval between them. Alignment: Align the second finger parallel to the fingerboard. Third Finger (Ring Finger): Whole-Step Interval: Position the third finger a whole-step away from the second finger. Alignment: Keep the third finger parallel to the fingerboard. Fourth Finger (Pinky Finger): Close to Third Finger: Place the fourth finger close to the third finger, maintaining a whole-step interval. Precise Placement: Be precise in placing the fourth finger to avoid intonation issues. Checking Finger Pressure: Gentle Pressure: Apply gentle and consistent pressure on the strings with your fingers. Avoid Tension: Avoid excessive tension, as it can hinder flexibility and tone quality. Thumb Placement: Behind the Neck: Position the thumb behind the neck, opposite the second finger. Light Support: Use the thumb for light support, allowing the fingers to move freely. Hi, I want to learn to play the violin, and I am not sure which violin to go for as a beginner. I don't have any local shop nearby, so I probably would have to order online. Can someone help with which violin I should buy?

You should always go to the store and check out yourself by playing on different acoustic instruments. Even if they look the same, the sound won't! Play by yourself and pick the one you like.

Any book that you can suggest for me to play Violin by myself?
It's absolutely not possible to learn violin by reading books only. At least manage to get some good violin tutorials online or go to a violin trainer. anyway, these two books are best. Suzuki Violin Method. Galamian.
