The violin strings of differnt manufacturers carry a certain tonal quality. The price depends upon that. Good quality electrometal strings like Karuna are OK for practice purposes. They cost you locally at affordable price for students. The other concert quality ones are pricy. Preferences is to change any separate string sparingly from the same brand and thickness. More often you see E gets snapped due to its thickness and higher tension compared to others in the set. If affordable to you, change EA and DG together, whenever you look for changing them. read less

It's absolutely not possible to learn violin by reading books only. At least manage to get some good violin tutorials online or go to a violin trainer. anyway, these two books are best. Suzuki Violin Method. Galamian.
