IdentityHer creative work spans poetry, autofiction, literary essays, spoken word performance, and academic writing. She is a published author and an accomplished spoken word artist, whose work has been widely recognised for its emotional intelligence, lyrical strength, and cultural grounding. She was awarded the Jury’s Choice in Creative Writing at the Orange Flower Awards (2018) for her short story “Horizon”, marking a significant milestone in her literary career.
As a mentor, Fiona has trained and guided nearly 50 young writers to publication, helping students develop strong literary voices, disciplined writing practices, and the confidence to submit work to journals, anthologies, and competitions. Her teaching philosophy centres on reading as the foundation of all good writing, and she is known for creating safe, rigorous, and deeply engaging learning spaces for children, teens, and adults alike.
