As an English teacher at a highly reputed international school, I’m fortunate to stay closely connected with modern teaching practices and evolving curriculum standards. This keeps me sharp and gives me an edge when it comes to preparing young learners for the demands of an increasingly competitive world. I work with students from Kindergarten to Class 3, and my focus is on building their LSRW skills—Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing—to support the complete development of their language abilities. I believe learning should be joyful and meaningful, so I design lessons that are not just educational but also interactive, hands-on, and full of real-life connections that children can relate to. In every session, I use active learning strategies like storytelling, role-play, pair work, and creative writing tasks. I also keep a close watch on each child’s progress using formative assessments like exit tickets, fun quizzes, and observation checklists, so I can adjust my teaching to meet their individual needs. Phonics and pronunciation are a big part of my early years teaching, and I use multi-sensory approaches to make sounds come alive for the students. I often turn learning into play using games like word bingo, phonics hopscotch, vocabulary treasure hunts, and tools like Kahoot, which not only reinforce concepts but keep the children excited about coming to class. More than anything, I aim to help my students become confident, expressive, and joyful communicators who love the language and aren’t afraid to use it.
