I have extensive teaching experience in Pakhawaj, with a strong foundation in the Guru–Shishya Parampara and traditional Indian classical pedagogy. I have been teaching students of various age groups and skill levels, ranging from beginners to advanced learners, both offline and online. My teaching focuses on building strong fundamentals, including: Proper hand posture and bol techniques Clarity of basic bols and syllables Development of laya (tempo control) and taal understanding Practice of theka, parans, tukdas, chakradars, and tihais I have guided students through important Pakhawaj taals such as Chautaal, Dhamar, Teentaal, Jhaptal, Sooltal, and others, with emphasis on layakari and composition structure. Special attention is given to Dhrupad accompaniment, helping students understand the traditional role of Pakhawaj in classical vocal and instrumental music. My teaching methodology is structured yet flexible, adapting to each student’s learning pace and goals. I encourage regular riyaaz, use of bol recitation (padhant), and practical demonstrations to ensure deep rhythmic understanding. In recent years, I have also successfully conducted online Pakhawaj classes, making traditional learning accessible to students across different cities and countries, while maintaining the discipline and depth of classical training. Overall, my teaching experience reflects a balance of tradition, technique, and musical sensitivity, aiming to develop confident and well-rounded Pakhawaj players.
