Speaking in public in front of the audience always creates a kind of unease in most of us. We have people undergoing fear when they face strangers. But we have been speaking in public right from childhood in an informal way example in front of friends. Here we never experienced this fear. One would ask that then why does one fear when we grow up and need to communicate the same way in corporate life.

This reason attributed to this is our Comfort Zone. Once we could strike a comfort zone with our audience, then you see yourself breathing normally and shoulders, arms and lets relaxing. After this, you are in the ZONE(COMFORT).

There certain three basic thumb rules while presenting.

1. Speech – The basic necessity for speech in the knowledge of the language is Words.

“Words have magical power. They can either bring the greatest happiness or the deepest despair.” Sigmund Freud

2. Body movements – While presenting not only your mouth speaks but also your whole body. The hands to be above the waist level and should move according to the tenor of your speech. For beginners, they should be at ease with both legs equally divided to take your weight. You can move around- Front, Left, Right based on requirement when addressing a particular part of the audience and move back to centre.

3. Connect to as many individuals in the audience as possible by looking towards them. A word of caution that your gaze should be temporary and you can move on to another person.

The above are some basic points to make you start off on a journey and remember that PRACTICE MAKE ONE PERFECT.

Thanks and Bye for now

Many students waste a lot of their time and energy due to 1 Mistake.

This mistake is:

COMPARING THEMSELVES TO OTHERS

When I was in school, I used to compare myself with one of my colleagues. We use to play and study together, and I would always try to be better than him and vice versa which would give rise to jealousy and envy.

But as I grew, we both went with our lives facing different problems and situations. Now we hardly meet each other. He is busy in his life, and I am busy with my life. Thus I realise that there is no point comparing yourself with anybody because everyone has their own destiny. I should focus on my own growth rather than comparing me with anyone else.

Be your own self. Don't compare with anyone else. Focus on your own growth and life will be very beautiful.

The number 1 principle in life for success in any area of your life is " IRREVERSIBLE COMMITMENT."

No one can succeed unless they really want to succeed.

Here wanting is not just a WISH or Desire. Irreversible Commitment means a desire to succeed and a willingness to do whatever it takes to Succeed.

It is only such people who succeed in their chosen field.

Whenever you pursue any goal, there are bound to be challenges, difficulties, obstacles, hardships, etc. In the face of these challenges, it is only a Determined Soul who do not give up and always find out ways however difficult the goal may be. It is such person who achieves success at last.

E.g

Ratan Tata and Nano Car

Mahatma Gandhi and Freedom of India

Dhoni and Cricket

Milkha Singh

The list can go on and on.

So the number 1 principle for Success is " Irreversible Commitment" also called Determination

Importance of Voice in Effective Presentation Skills

Whenever there is a presentation, the audience looks at the 'Presenter' and make a mental gauging/perception of the person ..! Which is not correct but as human beings we all get influenced by what we see first.

A presenter has to be neatly dressed ( nothing flashy or elaborate) and has to have the confident body language which makes the audience look forward to the presentation.

Once the presentation starts, the voice and voice modulation of the presenter plays a big role in the success of the presentation. Many times essence of the presentation is lost just because of the presenter's voice nervous and shaky before a large audience.

This nervousness is the result of the presenter being "nervy " before an audience, the voice sounding different through the speaker system which is not the norm in the day to day communications..!

Hence to overcome this gap, a person should try practising reading LOUDLY ( newspapers, articles etc.) with clear pronunciations, pauses ( where ever necessary) in order for the brain and nervous system to get used to the loud voice..!!

The above point works out very well if practised sincerely..! Good Luck.

Step 1 to Improve your Personality.

The major hurdle that stops us from Improving ourselves is - Our thoughts. The primary reason why people cannot take a step ahead in their life is that they think they cannot. Difficulties are a part of life; we should not give up or when they are pounced upon us. Instead, we should know how to hit a six when such a bouncer hits.

Let yourself free of such thoughts that stop you from moving ahead. Think of what would happen the moment you do what you weren't doing until now.

"My Personality is in my hands; I can change for good, all I have to do is, Begin Now and Just Do It without another thought". At this point of time, when a negative thought occurs, you will be able to conquer it, because you have set your mind towards the positive side, towards improving, towards moving ahead, towards nothing that can stop you!

Remember, if you think you can, YOU CAN, and YES YOU CAN!

Nikita ... I teach Communication and in that I teach English too. The difference in the way I teach is first of all there is no grammar classes whatsoever. Secondly I completely discourage reading Newspapers. third is I advice you NOT to speak to another person in English. ALL True but with conditions. 1. Newspapers nowadays have mastered TRP english and TRP titles. All their content nearly 95% is on crime , violence and related. You will learn all the worng things. Long long and even longer back the Newspaper English was definitely a great way to learn . NO MORE. 2. Speaking to someone means the other has to know BETTER English than YOU. AAAND he/she must be empathetic towards your desire to learn the language. I have an online Spoken English Course you may want to explore it. read less
