Personality is a crucial aspect of our functioning. It can be thought of as the lens through which we look at ourselves and the world around us. Personality shapes the way we look at & respond to people & circumstances that surround us.

Here are how you could transform your personality for the better:

  • Know where you stand before starting: Learn as much as you can about your strengths, weaknesses, repeated mistake patterns, emotional triggers etc.
  • List down areas where you want to see improvement: Pick up traits you feel need improvement and critical work areas.
  • Sign-up for personality development classesAn experienced mentor would be able to see through your personality aspects & prescribe workable action plans.
  • Read, read, read: The more you read, the better you learn. Reading enlightens and widens perspectives.
  • Don't be afraid to fall: Don't be scared of failures, disappointments or rejections. See them as learning opportunities. Fall, get up & dust yourself, and continue growing.

Look within. All that you seek is within you.

The average person spends about one-third of their life in the workplace. Workplaces can hence be seen as a home away from home. Therefore, a healthy exchange of information must occur between people at various positions in the workplace to avoid stress & dissatisfaction.

Here are some handy tips to improve workplace communication & facilitate greater information exchange:

  • Effective communication channel across the workplace hierarchy: Establish upward communication (employees could communicate with superiors) so that every person feels heard and valued.
  • Encourage dialogue: Be approachable so that team members, irrespective of position, could contribute valuable insights, provide feedback without hesitation to improve team cohesion.
  • Avoid making presumptions: Don't be quick to conclude in case of underperformance. Avoid being confrontational and enquire if you could provide any assistance. This boosts morale & trust among colleagues.
  • Offer constructive feedbacks: Avoid being tone-deaf while giving feedbacks. Instead of simply complaining, compliment the effort that went into something & thoughtfully sandwich the negative feedback constructively.
  • Appreciate: Acknowledge people's efforts. Motivate them to continue doing so. Be specific with your compliments (e.g., instead of saying 'Good presentation', say 'I love how detailed and easy to understand the presentation was').

Communicate to eliminate feelings of distrust, fear, conflicts; and replace these with a happier workplace.

Change is an inevitable aspect of life. Nothing - feelings, circumstances, relationships - remains constant. For the days when you feel like you have hit rock bottom & question your ability to ever get out of the situation, remember & repeat this to yourself:

WITHIN ME LIES TREMENDOUS STRENGTH. NOTHING BREAKS ME UNLESS I ALLOW IT TO.

Additionally, here are some points to help you realize how strong you are:

  • Face your fears: One tiny step each day without fail to do what you are afraid of would lead you to a day that you would no longer be afraid of facing your fear.
  • Confront your emotional triggers: What is it that breaks you down? What is it that causes you anger, pain & grief? Confront these situations, re-frame them & channelize your energy into creativity, physical activities or simply meditating.
  • Learn to say 'No': Saying 'No' doesn't make you a villain. It saves you from over-commitment and from sacrificing a crucial part of your happiness trying to please others.
  • Practice gratitude: Gratitude - a nine-letter word, rich in meaning & powerful in effect. Learn to be grateful for the littlest of things and the people around you.
  • Go with the flow & live in the moment: No one knows tomorrow. No one knows the next moment. Live and do your best in the present & free yourself from the prison of your past.

We all have got highs and lows. Such is life. But when things seem to be headed south, remind yourself that you are a winner, and winners are those who defeat all odds.

Reminder to self:

WITHIN MELIES TREMENDOUS STRENGTH. NOTHING BREAKS ME UNLESS I ALLOW IT TO

Do you recall when a lot of things seemed to be happening at the same time - projects, exams, classes, internships, personal commitments etc. - and life seemed like an absolute mess? Have you also experience an emotional overwhelm & lashed out, cried or just became silent when there was too much on your plate to handle?

Don't worry; here are tips that will come in handy when you feel overloaded with work:

  • De-clutter: Get rid of unnecessary stuff that you don't need. Less is more; keep only the things that serve you a purpose.
  • Organize: Organize your living/work area. Look at your cupboard. How does it look like? Organized? Disorganized? That is a reflection of your life. Orderliness prevents overwhelm.
  • A warrior, not a victim: Let go of the feeling that you worked so hard, yet your life is a mess. Take charge of the situation like the winner that you are and work towards avoiding the pile-up.
  • Change: If you still feel overwhelmed, take a step back & introspect. Think - 'What can I do better?'. Take control of the situation & introduce changes.
  • Prioritize Set priorities. Avoid over-committing just to please others. Honour your commitments & fulfil the promises you made to people, including yourself.

Overcoming overwhelm is a matter of firm determination. Determine to take control and wave overwhelm goodbye!

In the recent past, recognising the significant role that personality plays in all aspects of our lives has led to a more structured approach towards personality development. Contrary to what might be perceived, online personality development classes also bring about the same changes in people, if not more, than the conventional one-on-one classes.

WHY PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT IS IMPORTANT IN TODAY'S LIFE

As the world becomes increasingly competitive, solely good grades do not guarantee a successful professional life. Creative & critical thinking, leadership, communication skills, confidence etc., are the few qualities that enable individuals to navigate through their workplaces. Individuals with these skills tend to be more efficient and know how to bounce back from failures. It leads them to become more disciplined, optimistic & self-aware.

On a personal front, personality development helps in relationship building, effective communication, empathy, conflict management etc. It improves the quality of the relationships that we share & how we manage and understand our emotions.

BENEFITS OF ONLINE PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT CLASSES

  • Better access to personality development sessions from experts around the world
  • Individualisation of learning as the coach can pay close attention to every student
  • Learning takes place at one's own pace
  • Reduces indirect cost & energy expenditure

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT TIPS FOR ONLINE CLASSES

  • Take assignments seriously: It is essential to be honest with your journey towards change and growth. Complete the tasks and assignments to the best of your ability, even if it makes you uncomfortable at first.
  • Take one step at a time: Take notes of all the key points and work towards them every day. Set daily tasks for yourself and achieve them. Continue to do so every day until your target is achieved.
  • Do it until it is no longer a challenge: Afraid of making mistakes during public speaking? Afraid of doing any other thing for fear of failing at it? Challenge yourself regularly so that you can overcome these limitations effortlessly.
  • Be honest & expressive:  Nobody is perfect. You need to be completely honest in all the evaluations carried out during the online session and express yourself in the best manner possible. It leads you to step out of your comfort zone and learn.
  • Interact with your fellow batch-mates: Make an effort to know and interact with your batch-mates. Exchange of ideas is a very effective way to learn and grow.

Personality is the way we see and react to the world. Hence we need to shape it so that we can get the most out of our potential. Online personality development provides the same benefits as the one-on-one classes, provided we make the most of it.

Conflicts are unavoidable parts of any relationship. Even people in the healthiest of relationships have occasional conflicts that arise between them. It is not conflicts that one should try to avoid but the mismanagement of conflicts. Resolving conflicts healthily strengthens the relationship and establishes trust & respect for one another.

However, poor management of conflict impairs the relationship and sows in it mistrust, grudges, anger & sorrow. Conflict management is an acquired skill built on the foundations of emotional intelligence and utilized in various situations, from office to the classroom to homes.

Conflicts are caused due to disagreements that give rise to strong emotions of anger, grief or shock. When there is a discrepancy between a person's needs and what they are received, it leads to disagreements & differences. If not appropriately addressed, these feelings of differences begin to grow and damage the relationship in the long run.

TIPS TO RESOLVE CONFLICTS

  • Empathize: Understand the feelings of the other individual. Try and look at the issue from their point of view to understand what it is that is influencing them the most. Avoid discrediting their feelings as this would do more harm to the relationship.
  • Listen: Instead of indulging in heated arguments with the other person, listen to them with the intent to understand what they mean. If both parties speak and none listens, the conflict will intensify, and the relationship may go sour.
  • Express, but remain respectful: Be as respectful as possible while addressing the conflict. Don't use harsh words or insult the other person no matter how angry you are. If you feel angry, take your time to deal with the situation.
  • Work out a healthy solution: Discuss and arrive at a beneficial conclusion wherein both of your issues are duly addressed. Make sure the solution deals with the problem so that you leave the discussion feeling respected.
  • Bury the past and move on: Move on from the past, and leave any bitterness behind. Sort out those feelings once and for all and look forward to a better and stronger relationship.

Conflicts are not to be avoided but to be handled constructively. Doing so would strengthen the bond between the individuals & encourage healthy communication.

Personality Development is an ongoing process, but it begins with the process of SELF ANALYSIS.

By Self Analysis you understand where you are currently and where you want to go. This gives a clear picture of the GAPS in your PERSONALITY.

And once you know these GAPS, then you can always overcome them. This the FIRST step.

The SECOND step is to be very honest to yourself and ask yourself how would you like to become a better person, by doing the research yourself and learning more about the PEOPLE SKILLS and incorporating these in your LIFESTYLE or by seeking professional help.

The THIRD step is to begin the journey as soon as possible, starting with your COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

And the FOURTH and the most important one is that PERSONALITY is an inherent character of a person and it will take time to alter it for the better, so don't be harsh on yourself and give yourself TIME to become a BETTER VERSION OF YOU.😊

Two things are essential Interest and Involvement. If you are strong in the basics of any language, it is enough for you to become an effective communicator. Language proficiency alone will not make us an effective communicator; it is more than that.
