Its Demand and Supply only ,we need to understand when demand exceed supply and vice-versa.

Simply put-The demand and Supply in the stocks makes the prices go up and down.More the demand more buyers will make the stock price to rise...and if the supply becomes more in the stock.meaning if people are ready to dump the stock at any price.that will make the prices go down.

It is a matter of supply and demand. When demand surpasses the supply, prices rise, and when supply surpass the demand, price fall. Short term traders try to interprete this with help of technical analysis and try to time the entries in the market.
