I have always felt the way we teach science , specially Mathematics has always been dry . Without sounding cliche let me give you an example . No teacher ever explained how (Euclidean) geometry relate to to our intuition .After all geometry is all perfect straight lines and circles that we hardly use in our life . Then why do we expect students to develop skill of manipulating a figure that she has hardly any idea of ? In my own experience i had great difficult adopting number and letters from the past experience of using only numbers .It was difficult for me to understand why we are using suddenly letters x, y , etc instead of usual 2, 6.7 etc . No teacher ever said why we are transiting from only numbers to numbers and letters suddenly . My younger self took few months of pondering on why sudden unnecessary change only to make mathematics more complex .It took me only one hour of actually reading one algebra chapter from very introduction itself . This was my road block to understand mathematics and mathematics has been very natural since then to me . I realize same thing happens to all of us . I realize for some of us the algebraic way of solving a problem comes naturally than solving it geometrically . I realize instead of doing messy calculations , sometimes a clever trick can reduce problem at an one-liner cool solution . All one needs to ignite that creative instinct .
