No both are not same. SQL is to query tables mainly focusing into data management and is complex if it comes to Data Integration, Data Analysis and Reporting. SAS has many branches, if you are new to SAS, then you have to start with Base SAS and then gradually learn Advance SAS. Now in Advance SAS there is a complete section realted to SQL, we call it PROC SQL. This PROC SQL has some extra features that SAS has added to general SQL queries. SAS is pretty different compared to SQL. Some differences are: 1. SQL is a structured query language created to directly access and manipulate data in a data base like Oracle, TERADATA etc. It works only in a DBMS environment. SAS on the other hand is a structured analytic programming language to work directly on data in data bases through drivers for each data base and has the added advantage of working on files in your local system like excel,text etc. 2.
